Bridal Lipsticks

For all Budgets

Finding the right lipstick for your wedding is harder than it should be. Like most things wedding you may suddenly be faced with a lot of options and a lot of questions! Your bridal lipstick easily falls in the 'oh but its your WEDDING DAY' spending budget! My advice, bottom line, choose something you love, that feels like you, that will stand the test of time.

"Be with someone who ruins your lipstick, not your mascara"

I've outlined 5 brands below to discuss one of their lipstick collects. Don't like the colour? Don't worry they all offer a good to great range of shades!

Tip-Apply a light layer, let it sit and sink into the lips. Blot like you've never blotted before, then apply another layer.

M.A.C. - Hug Me (Lustre)

MAC-Hug Me- Lustre

It's hard to go wrong with a M.A.C. Lipstick. Their Lustre collection is lightweight and easily buildable with a medium coverage. I find the formula a little dry once it settles in but the colour lasts incredibly well and is easily lifted with a little lip balm.

The Hug Me shade is a make-up bag staple for me; providing a nude but with a depth of colour to still define your lips, beautiful for brides looking for something very natural.

Chanel - Marie (Rouge Coco)

Chanel-Marie-Rouge Coco

Chanel is synonymous with luxurious, high quality products, and their lipsticks are no different. Their improved Rouge Coco collection has brought this classic name up to play with the more contemporary brands.

Unlike the MAC Lustre this lipstick hydrates the lips well (contains mimosa, jojoba and sunflower waxes), leaving a gentle sheen without compromising on pigment. The melt on formula is easy to apply and absorbs well into the lips. There is more of a need to reapply but as long as you do a good base coat you shouldn't see a major contrast so top up at your own will.

Chanel is definitely a bit of indulgence but is well worth its price point.

Seventeen - Date Night (Stay Pout)

Seventeen-Date Night (Stay Pout)

SEVENTEEN (perviously 17) is on the lighter end of the budget but don't let this put you off their lipsticks.

Thick and creamy their Stay Pout takes a little extra care to apply but once it's on it stays! Be warmed it adds a stain to the lips so you may want to add a little lipcoate (also available at Boots) and top off with lip balm to be on the safe side.

The depth of colours are excellent and I have regularly been compliment on versions of their reds (before being told 'oh, its a cheap brand!') Be warmed - they change their palette fairly regularly so if you find one you love buy it! In fact, buy a few!

Dolce & Gabbana - Iconic (Classic Cream)

Dolce-Gabbana-Iconic-Classic Cream

Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick offers an intense colour which is incredibly moisturising. With 46 shades, covering nudes to reds and everything in between, I challenge you not to find one you love.

The colour lasts hours (even when drinking and a lot of cheek kissing. Personally I love the Iconic shade, red with a hint of orange for a bit more of a lift, plus it helps warm up my skin tone a little! It also smells beautiful with a gentle hint of roses.

Although at the higher price point this is certainly a good 'investment' piece if you are going for a shade you will wear regularly.

RRP: £25.50 - £27

Models Own - Innocent (Lix Lip Stain)

Models Own-Innocent-Lix Lip Stain

While not technically a lipstick, lip stains are a fantastic choice for your wedding; either on their own or as a base for your lipstick. Models Own offers (probably) the best lip stains I have ever used. Available in 10 shades online (seems to be a limited pallet in store) each one offers a subtly different tone to enhance your natural lip colour. This particular stain is moisturising, with a beautiful slight satin sheen for healthy looking lips, and an even colour.

This is my personal choice for my own wedding (with a little gloss) purely because I want to go for a naturally enhanced look and I don't want to think twice about hugging or kissing anyone!

Be aware of a few things 1: the colour develops on your lips so leave a few minutes between applications

2: it really does stain (I've still been wearing it the next morning!)

Available in ten shades

RRP: £6.99

NOTE: (If buying on line) the shade on the lip stain is significant lighter than it appears on your screen.
